Solomona was born in Auckland and spent most of his growing years there. Solomona made his International début for Samoa on 8 October 2016 in their test match against Fiji in Apia.
On 13 December 2016, despite his two years of remaining contract with Castleford Tigers, it was confirmed that Denny had retired from rugby league. He was actually supposed to switch to rugby union and join Sale Sharks in the Aviva Premiership. The move gave rise to a legal dispute and the outcome of which cost Castleford $240,000 in compensation.
